As it is widely known, TPE materials refer to thermoplastic elastomer materials that are modified through compounding using SEBS as the base. TPE serves as an umbrella term for various thermoplastic elastomer materials, including TPU, TPR, TPV, and TPEE, among others. Typically, the TPE used in overmolding applications belongs to the poly(styrene-based) TPE elastomer category. TPE boasts excellent soft-touch and anti-slip properties, hence it is commonly combined and overmolded with other materials like PP, ABS, PC, PA, and PC/ABS blends to enhance the comfort and usability of end products. With the deepening development of the TPE industry and the increasing demands of consumers, the application of TPE materials in combination with hard substrates has become increasingly widespread, covering sectors such as sports equipment, electronics, household items, medical devices, automotive parts, and hardware tools.

Despite the versatility of TPE elastomers, the challenge of maintaining acceptable bonding strength at hardness levels below 45 degrees has long been a source of concern for many businesses. Addressing such client needs is central to our commitment! Hence, we introduce a new TPE overmolding solution featuring the following characteristics:

1. True bonding effect: It requires significant force to tear off the TPE from the substrate, albeit at the expense of damaging the TPE material itself, leaving residue on the ABS hard plastic.

2. Achievable hardness as low as 20A, akin to the softness of human skin.

3. Low odor profile: Free from the pungent smell associated with compatibilizers, making it suitable for adult products.

4. Finish options: Can be produced in either a glossy or matte finish.

5. Technological innovation: Departing from traditional true-bonding techniques used with ABS/PC materials, this technology eliminates the reliance on materials like TPU, TPEE, and compatibilizers, thereby broadening the scope of potential applications.
