TPE Materials: Structure, Advantages and Applications
Time of issue:2025-07-23
When it comes to TPE materials, people may feel relatively unfamiliar, but they often encounter daily necessities made of this material in life. The most common one is the handle on the toothbrush that people use daily.
1. Structure
TPE elastomer materials have various possible structures. The most fundamental requirement is that they need to have at least two mutually dispersed polymer phases. At normal service temperatures, one phase is fluid, the other is solid, and there is an interaction between the two phases.
2. Advantages
TPE elastomer materials are polymer materials that exhibit rubber elasticity at room temperature and can be plasticized and molded at high temperatures. They have mechanical properties similar to rubber and can be recycled and processed like thermoplastic plastics, building a bridge between plastics and rubber. Therefore, TPE elastomer materials can be processed into rubber products quickly, effectively and economically like thermoplastic plastics. They have a soft texture, adjustable physical properties and hardness, are suitable for various processing technologies, and have environmental protection advantages.
3. Applications
TPE elastomer materials are artificial plastic elastomers with unique properties and have a wide range of application fields. Specific applications include: sports equipment, stationery, hardware, power tools, toys, communications, electronic products, food and beverage packaging, kitchen supplies, construction engineering, wires and cables, automobiles, household appliances, shoe materials, etc. What's more encouraging is that TPE elastomer materials are high-quality materials that lead new product design and market orientation, providing a huge space for play for the majority of product designers.
