Application Cases
Rubber-coated sealing ring
Case Description
The customer requests the development of a coated ASA material with 20% TPU added, requiring it to withstand high temperatures up to 85°C and maintain its shape and non-stick properties without deformation, thereby meeting the high-performance requirements for robotic vacuum cleaner components.
Application Background
Robot vacuum accessories need to have excellent sealing performance, high-temperature resistance, and durability to ensure the robot’s long-term stable operation in complex environments.
Import process
1. Preliminary trial of TPU-60A:
Problem: The hardness is too low and fails to meet the required hardness and elasticity specifications for the sealing ring.
Cause analysis: The TPU-60A has a lower hardness, which makes the sealing ring prone to deformation in high-temperature environments and unable to maintain stable sealing performance.
Result: The sealing ring exhibited excessive softness during use, resulting in poor sealing performance.
2. Try TPU-70A:
Problem: The hardness is too high, causing the sealing ring to become overly rigid, which affects its sealing performance and user comfort.
Cause analysis: The TPU-70A has a relatively high hardness, which results in the sealing ring lacking sufficient elasticity under high-temperature conditions and thus being unable to effectively adapt to changes in the sealing surface.
Result: The sealing ring exhibited excessive rigidity during use, leading to uneven sealing performance.
3. Try TPU-G65-MFQ:
Solution: The TPU-G65-MFQ has a moderate hardness, ranging between 60A and 70A, which meets the requirements for sealing ring materials.
Results: The sealing ring demonstrated excellent elasticity and sealing performance, remaining undeformed and non-sticky even at high temperatures of 85℃, fully meeting the customer’s requirements.
Conclusion
After numerous trials and adjustments, TPU-G65-MFQ has been identified as the most suitable TPU grade for sealing ring coating materials. Its moderate hardness, excellent moldability, and high-temperature resistance make it an ideal choice for sealing ring materials in robotic vacuum cleaners.
Note
The successful application of TPU-G65-MFQ not only meets the customer’s specific requirements for sealing ring materials but also demonstrates its potential value in other products that demand high elasticity and high-temperature resistance.
