1. What is Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) Material?
Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE), also known as thermoplastic rubbers, are a class of novel polymer synthetic materials that emerged in the late 1950s. These materials combine the physical and mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber with the processing characteristics of soft plastics. Generally speaking, TPEs are materials that exhibit the high elasticity of rubber at room temperature and can be molded when heated. They are often referred to as the third generation of rubber, abbreviated as TPE or TPR.
2. Is TPE Material Harmful to Human Health?
1. The ingredients used in TPE formulations are relatively mild, non-corrosive, and non-irritating raw materials, ensuring the non-toxicity and safety of TPE materials. This safety is confirmed by third-party testing institutions such as SGS, which verify compliance with relevant environmental standards. TPE materials are free from halogens, phthalate plasticizers, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), nonylphenol (NP), heavy metals, radioactive elements, and bisphenol A (BPA), meeting standards such as ROHS, REACH, EN71, and FDA (water and alcohol tests).
2. TPE is a type of thermoplastic rubber, a high molecular weight substance, and pure polymers themselves are non-toxic. However, as rubber materials, there can be residual monomers and various low molecular weight additives present during synthesis and processing.
