Which material is more environmentally safe, TPE or PP?

Which material is more environmentally safe, TPE or PP?

The original post argues that TPE is more environmentally friendly than PP. Sure enough, it adopts the mode of selling whatever material is good.

In fact, it is hard to say which material is more environmentally friendly. Of course PP is better than TPE, not misleading the public as mentioned above.

From the environmental point of view, PP can be used for disposable cups, lunch boxes, microwave ovens, etc.TPE is usually a composite material with some small molecules inside that may dissolve at high temperatures or when encountering some kind of acidic and greasy medium.

PP's environmental level, and food-grade silicone is a echelon, it belongs to the top of the first echelon of environmental protection materials, TPE can only be used as the second echelon of excellent environmental protection materials.

From the point of view of comfort and safety, TPE is softer than PP. Products or accessories that can be replaced by TPE are undoubtedly softer and more comfortable. In a sense, it is safer.

However, PP has a higher hardness of about 65~70D, while TPE has a lower hardness of about 35~60D, or even harder, with a hardness of 10~90A. There may be a crossover between the applications of TPE and PP, but it is rare to see a TPE product that uses a substitute for PP. Moreover, for non-substitute materials, it does not make much sense to compare the environmental performance of the two materials.
