How to Achieve Black and Shiny TPE Particles: Methods and Influencing Factors
In the production process of TPE materials, sometimes due to customer requirements, there is a need for TPE materials to have a black and shiny effect. Many TPE manufacturers struggle to achieve this effect. How to make TPE material particles both black and shiny? Based on its years of experience in the TPE industry, Dingyu believes that TPE particles should have a higher oil filling amount, more black powder added, and some lubricant added.
Factors affecting the blackness and gloss of TPE particles:
Mold: Polishing and buffing the mold is beneficial for obtaining a brighter product surface.
Injection molding temperature: The injection molding temperature should ensure sufficient plasticization of the TPR material. If the temperature is insufficient, the produced products may have a dull surface or a pitted surface. As for the specific injection molding temperature to use, you can consult the TPR supplier and flexibly adjust it according to the actual injection molding processing conditions.
Addition amount of color powder or color masterbatch: The addition amount of black powder is generally 1~2%. For TPR grades with a large amount of calcium powder filling, the addition amount of color powder should be increased as appropriate.
Colorant: When preparing black color powder or color masterbatch on-site, attention should be paid to the compatibility between the color powder or color masterbatch and TPR, as well as the diffusivity of the color powder. Therefore, the selection of color powder and color masterbatch (carrier) is very important.
Formula: Choosing SBS-based TPR is better than SEBS-based TPR because SBS-based TPR has a shiny surface appearance, while SEBS-based TPR has a matte or sub-matte surface appearance. If due to product performance requirements, it is necessary to use SEBS-based TPR (TPE), brightening agents can be added to the TPR formula to improve the shiny surface effect.
