Molding Methods of TPE: Versatile Processing for Diverse Applications
TPE raw materials are often used in wires, cables, and headphone cables. They are favored by the market and users for their soft handfeel, good surface gloss, scratch resistance, and excellent rebound performance. Due to their good handfeel, superior material properties, and wide application across various industries, TPE has spawned a variety of molding methods. Let's see what thermoplastic material wholesalers have to say about it.
Thermoplastic elastomer TPE, also known as artificial rubber or synthetic rubber, boasts the excellent properties of traditional cross-linked vulcanized rubber, such as high elasticity, aging resistance, and oil resistance, while also featuring the convenience and wide processing methods of ordinary plastics. It can be produced through processes like injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding, with 100% of 水口边角 (sprue and runner scrap) directly reusable after crushing. This not only simplifies the processing process but also reduces processing costs. Thus, thermoplastic elastomer TPE/TPR materials have become the latest alternative to traditional rubber. Being environmentally friendly, non-toxic, comfortable to touch, and aesthetically pleasing in appearance, they make products more innovative. Therefore, TPE is also a more humanized and high-quality new synthetic material, as well as a globally standardized environmentally friendly material.
TPE material molding methods:
① TPE separate molding: Generally used to produce individual accessory products.
② Two-color injection molding or secondary injection molding: Mainly used to produce overmolded products, which can be overmolded onto rigid plastics such as PP, PS, PC, PA, and ABS. It is commonly applied in sports equipment, handles, and grips.
③ Extrusion molding: Primarily used to produce strip-shaped products, such as wires, cables, water pipes, and sealing strips.
④ Blow molding: Used to manufacture toy products and auto parts.
⑤ Calendering molding: TPE materials are calendered through multi-roll calenders, mainly for producing sheet products.
⑥ Casting molding: SEBS powder is mixed with oil to form a viscous TPE material, which is melted by a sol machine and then cast into a mold. The product is formed after complete cooling. Casting molding is mainly used to produce ultra-soft products such as adult products and window-sticking toys.
