Time of issue:2026-03-06
I. Product Overview
ZA60AP-GSQ This is a high-flow, cost-effective material specifically designed for ABS coating. It has a specific gravity of 1.17 g/cm³, a hardness of 58 Shore A, and a melt flow index of 26 g/10 min (190°C/2.16 kg). It can be injection-molded at a processing temperature of 180°C.
II. Details of Application Cases
- Application components: Wiper handle
1. Background and Customer Needs:
The customer is facing technical challenges during new product development, and the key requirements are:
- Solving the deformation problem: During the overmolding process, the hard ABS plastic substrate is prone to shrinkage and deformation.
- High liquidity: The material needs to have high fluidity to ensure good filling and reduce injection molding pressure, thereby minimizing internal stresses.
- Dimensional stability: The material itself should have a low shrinkage rate to minimize its impact on the deformation of the hard plastic.
- Appropriate adhesiveness: Reliable adhesion performance on ABS substrates is required.
2. Materials Development and Implementation Process:
- Technical Challenge: This project requires simultaneously balancing three key indicators—fluidity, shrinkage rate, and adhesion—making it technically challenging.
- Mold trial process:
- First mold trial ER50A-DL-1 As a result, the ABS substrate deformed and bent.
- Replace with ER55A-NS The hard plastic still shows deformation and bending.
- Trial ER60A-GZ-2 The hard plastic doesn't deform, but its adhesion is insufficient.
- Test ER50A1-01 The product has shrunk and deformed.
- Try ER60A-DY However, the adhesion still fails to meet the requirements.
- Final solution: After multiple adjustments to the formulation and optimization of the process, we have developed... ZA60AP-GSQ This material performed exceptionally well in the mold trials, successfully resolving the issue of hard plastic deformation while also meeting the requirements for adhesion and fluidity.
3. Case Value:
This case successfully addressed the industry challenge of hard-gel deformation commonly encountered in overmolding with rubber coatings. Through systematic material selection and formulation optimization, the ZA60AP was ultimately developed. -GSQ Not only does it meet the product’s functional requirements, but it also offers economic advantages, providing customers with cost-effective solutions that help them successfully launch their new products.
III. Summary
ZA60AP-GSQ This is an economical TPE material that successfully addresses the issue of encapsulation deformation. Its balanced formulation—featuring high fluidity, low shrinkage, and excellent adhesion—provides a valuable technical reference for similar encapsulation applications. This material is also well-suited for other applications where injection molding deformation is sensitive, such as tool handles and everyday consumer products that require encapsulation over ABS.
