NP test (NPEO) NP standard, NP limit value standard testing and testing June 18, 2003, the European Union promulgated Directive 2003/53/EC, which stipulates that from January 17, 2005, corresponding restrictions and regulations on the use, circulation and emissions of alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers such as nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers (NPEO); APEO is APEO is the abbreviation of alkylphenol ethoxylates, which is a relatively conventional non-ionic surface active agent. It has excellent penetration, dispersion, emulsification, solubilization and other properties and is widely used in the textile, leather, plastics, household chemicals, paper-making and other industries APEO itself is not teratogenic and carcinogenic, but its synthetic by-products may be carcinogenic regulations on APEO restrictions usually refer to four, NPEO (nonylphenol ethoxylates), NP (nonylphenol), OPEO (octylphenol ethoxylates), and OP (octylphenol) is limited to 1000ppm, and its application is restricted if it exceeds the limit.

  1、Knowledge about APEO

APEO includes nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEO) accounting for 80-85%, octylphenol ethoxylates (OPEO) accounting for more than 15%, and dodecylphenol ethoxylates (DPEO) and dinonylphenol ethoxylates (DNPEO) accounting for 1% each. The annual consumption of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO) in the world is 880 million pounds, of which more than 80% are nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEO). Because of the potential environmental hazards of APEO has been widely studied and demonstrated. Some European countries have established regulations to restrict the production and use of APEO since 1976.

  2、The ecological safety of APEO

The ecological impact of APEO can be summarized into the following four aspects: toxicity, biodegradability, environmental hormones, and harmful by-products in the production process.

  a. Toxicity of NPEO9-10: LD50 = 1600mg/Kg; ECO50 for daphnia is 42mg/L; ECO50 for algae is 50mg/L, indicating that NPEO is toxic to mammals and aquatic organisms and to cancer, while it is similar to other non-ionic surface activities.

  b. Biodegradability: The degradability of APEO is slow, and its biodegradation rate is 0%-9%.

  c. Environmental hormones: APEO has estrogen-like effects and can harm the normal hormone secretion of the human body, i.e. the so-called "estrogenic effect" and aberrations.
